Berlin as a lively city attracts people from all over the world. But what if you are a workaholic, a full-time student or just a stressed-out citizen who needs to escape this restlessness? In the midst of the city’s stressful everyday life, both Berliners and visitors are to be given the opportunity to switch off without much effort. The building is also divided into a burnout therapy centre and public areas. Nature is of great importance in this design. It is present in four forms: the green roofs, the courtyards with different programmes, a public park with a riverside promenade and, last but not least, the green ‘urban oases’ that subdivide the space and the façade. The small ‘urban oases’ are a special variant of the green structure within the building. While they are used as vegetable beds in the therapy area, they furthermore bring nature into the building and thus support the feeling of being surrounded by it.
