Media and social networks sell us the idea of the unsaleable: the care for ourselves. Under the motto „Take care about yourself“, we consume beauty products, fitness shakes and mindfulness apps in the hope of finding and optimising ourselves or even becoming a better person. The video installation “The Subtle Art of Self-Care” is meant to make us reflect. The audience is confronted with the self-care routine of a young man who, like a puppet, follows the instructions of and advertising voice. Will he succeed in the journey to himself?
